Which one and two-variable statistics can i use to determine the realtionship btw 2 vairables?

I know what you mean, but if I had the question on a test or a problem set, I would talk about how the r statistic implicitly uses the standard deviations of the variable to produce a scaled answer, and how the relationships between the variables' means and standard deviations let's us compare their magnitudes and variability.
