Wii system update...?

I have a korean wii that makes fake cds work. An update is available, but it tells me that any unauthorized modifications will be detected and removed.... bla bla, can i update or is there really a risk? I actually hope tht this update, if done, can fix my mii channel and my my photo channel, coz they dnt work, i get: this channel can't be used.. Any clue?
