Colorado Springs public transportation? I am going there for 2 weeks & a car rental is close to $1000.?

Would it be possible if I flew in to the air port on the Peterson Air Force property to them just get a bus to the local places. Then while we are there in town is in possible to just use buses to get around? If so how good is the bus transportation if any. If I wanted to go to the Garden of God or Pikes peak can I just use public transportation there? or is there another way to visit & go out without a car rental.
