Just did my taxes...I get 300 bucks back, my friend w/ a baby gets 6,000?

How the heck did she get 6000 dollars. My husband and I have six kids and only get back 1,500 and that is only because we itemized. As far as state taxes goes we always owe around $400.00 dollars. Don't ume just because some has kids they make a killing with taxes, we don't....
