How to join police?

After a year of college studying travel and Tourism I decided what I really want too do is become a police community support officer. I live in the UK, brighton. I don't know how to go about it, I went on their site and they said their no vancies but should I just try anyway? Also I have to get a application package and I don't know where to get this? it didn't say on the site. thanks.
