Alphabet Problems for a Pre-Schooler?

Does everyone have problems with lmnop.We taught my neice the alphabet and she makes elamenohpee (thats how her pre-shchool teacher spells it) one word well her teacher gives out marks for the littlest things and says no other person does that and gives her like 20 marks a day she had 18 yesterday is it just me or is this teacher out of her freaken mind?
